PD Foundation History

The PD Foundation was created by Peter Diethelm in 2002 as a meaningful expression of gratitude to communities in countries around the world, which have been integral to Peter Diethelm's career in travel.

The PD Foundation is a platform for multigenerational giving focused on family care, adequate health services and quality education leading to employment or entrepreneurship. The PD Foundation funds projects operating through a registered charity and all projects are approved by CAF.

Our Mission

The PD Foundation is committed to improving accessibility to good health care provision, particularly for more rural territories, and supporting children and whole communities to receive quality education, which leads to employment or entrepreneurship.

Project Sectors

The PD Foundation works especially with dedicated community health and education projects, where the ringfenced funds are able to go most directly to the individuals who need the support.  The Foundation has worked in destinations closely linked to the founder’s time in the travel industry, particularly focusing on Asia and Africa, including an extensive medical centre in Kenya and Educational Village in Mae Sot, Thailand.

Our Partners

We have worked with international charities like SOS Children's Villages, but also have some of the greatest connections with smaller, local charities like Child’s Dream in Thailand, CHP and wiLearn in Kenya.  We work closely with partner charities who are tightly integrated with the local communities and understand first hand the challenges that are faced by the individual.  PD Foundation always looks for projects which are sustainable for the future and seeks to partner with other charities to ensure the longevity of the benefits for the community.
